POLL: Buying anime after watching fansubs: how are we doing?

I'm big on buying series that I like after watching the fansubs. I was just wondering how much other people are doing the same thing. I'm not really meaning to start a debate over how wrong or right it is.

I've only recently been introduced to fansubs and the accuracy of the translation astounded me. Before that I always purchased or recorded off the tv. If I found a fansub I liked enough to watch twice I would buy it, if it was availible. Since the only downloads I have watched so far aren't availible in the states (hence the download) it might take awhile though.

When I have the money to spare, or If I'm at a convention, I'll pick up series' that I've downloaded.

Right now, the series' that i own that I downloaded are Evangelion (On VHS), Full Metal Panic (on DvD), and FLCL (On DvD)

Oh yeah, feel free to post any shows you bought explicitly due to fansubs. This is why manyfansubbing groups claim to be in business after all, exposing shows that otherwise might not get attention.

The shows I've gotten because I saw them fansubbed are:
Gundam SEED
Chrono Crusade
Shingetsuan Tsukihime
.hack//SIGN
08th MS Team
Last EXILE

One show I won't get BECAUSE I saw it fansubbed is Madlax. I just didn't like it once everything was revealed.

Yes i do it alot but not all the time. I really love bleach can't wait for it to come out in the US.

I always buy DVDs and hardly ever download Fansubs.
But... my friend downloads them for me, and while I've yet to buy alot of the anime I've watched fansubbed, I want too. The only reason I haven't bought them is because I just can't physically buy them, because non are released on DVD in my country (Australia)

Anyway. Things I watched fansubbed:

Gravitation
Yami no Matsuei
Full Metal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex
Rurouni Kenshin OVA 1
Elfen Lied
Wolfs Rain
X TV

Out of the above list, I've only bought Wolfs Rain, XTV, GITS SAC and Rurouni Kenshin OVA 1 on DVD. The others (excluding FMA which I'm buying when the boxset comes out) I haven't brought yet.

So yeah I owe alot to fansubs, not only did they introduce me to three of my favourite anime series (Gravitation, Yami no Matsuei, XTV) but I've futher supported the original creators of all three anime by buying the manga versions of all three.

For me, if I like the Anime Series, I would buy it just for the pleasure of owning it and watching it whenever I want. I don't know. I sound possessive. :S

I buy a lot of things that I watch fansubs, it's how I know what's good to buy, and since I prefer dubs to subs it makes the purchase much more worthwhile

So yeah, the GREAT majority of anime I buy is what I've seen fan-subbed.
