To be honest i'd rather go with the PSP over the DS. The only problem is the price, but for the amount of things it can do i'd say it is well worth it. I don't really think the DS offers that much to be honest.
Buy the psp: Even though the games aren't that great, you can watch movies and play music
Don't buy the psp: after you're done with the new features it will become boring with no new games
Buy the DS: Even though games aren't great, it can play all game boy games.
Don't buy DS: Why bother with crappy games if you can get an sp?
Wait for the game boy micro. It will suit all of your needs
I'm looking for a handheld system to purchase in a few days. The only thing is, I'm having a hard time deciding. This is because I buy a handheld system for the quality of the games. The unfortunate fact is, both the ds and the psp's games so far have been rated far too low, and there are no blockbuster hits(I was hoping MGS ac!d would be, but no).
Since this is the case, I need to be convinced which handheld will be beneficial in terms of game quality in the future. So I need you guys to help me out here. Please vote and give a reason with your vote. Don't bring up issues on money either, I have enough to afford either of them.
Also, I was wondering on the capabilities of the game boy micro. Is it going to be the same graphics as the sp but just smaller? If it's not, then there may be a reason to wait for it.

The last thing I want to hear about is "looks", like I said, I'm buying it for quality, not trying to show it off to everyone I know like a new toy.

Psp for the great screen ,its huge, and all the great secondary features.Lumines is a great game if you have a PSP this should be purchased at the same time.
Then I would invest in a large memory stick for the PSP.If you can afford a 2GB go for it especially if your big into fansubs or want to carry your Mp3s around with you but don't want the hassle of multiple gadgets.
Oh yeah definately invest in a screen protector right away, like the same time you purchase the PSP, if that is what you choose. The screen scratches if you look at it too hard.
What is this "outside" of which you speak?
Hehe... the screen more likely scratches if you THINK about it hard enough... like when you buy it... I've heard plenty of stories about dead pixels.Originally Posted by LordGdawg
Other than that (you can just send the PSP back in to Sony, they'll replace it), the PSP is better by far. Better games, third-party support, Advent Children (that ALONE is a good reason), doesn't rely on a GIMMICK (oh, wait, I'm sorry. I meant TWO GIMMICKS), and (I know you don't want to hear about this) feels oh-so-GOOD to hold. The thing is SOOOOO awesome.
Just don't drop it. Matter of fact, don't twist it. Unless you're being mugged. "Gimme your money! AND that game thingy!" "You want it? Sure!" *twist* "OW! WTF?! That gamethingy just SHOT me in the eye! Holy CRAP!"
Maybe I'll come up eith a sig soon... until then, be patient.
The psp seems to be broken easily. That's not really a problem although the screen scratching problem is. So you're saying if I stick this thing in my pocket it will immediately get scratched?
Also, when purchasing the psp, does it come with a 32mb memory card? I've heard yes and I
ve heard no from people. Which is it?
-The 1GB stick costs $130-150 dollars, 2gb stick isnt even out yet (at least from what I've heard)
Also, like I said, both the psp and DS have games ranked 85.9 and lower on the gamerankings scale. I'm looking for something worth a 9 or above, and those are only on the sp. The thing is, great games may come out in the future on a different handheld than the sp.
Gamrankings compiles all of the scores of games from various game rating websites and magazines and takes the average of them.
