Well as everyone who has seen a news channel in the last two days knows, Baltimore Orioles 1st Baseman and the latest Mr. 3000 Rafael Palmeiro was caught earlier this week using steroids. It has already tainted his career and he may stand trial for perjury. I've never seen anyone of his stature fall this fast. I personally believe he is guilty and got caught and the fatc that he is a good guy is gonna do little to help his case.
What do you guys think about the case and steroid use in the big leagues in general?

Well, from what I understand, he can't be put on tiral for purjury, because they were only asking if he had taken steroids in the past, and so it doesn't count for taking them in the future. Assuming he just started using them recently. I don't think they'll be able to get him on purjury charges anyway, since they can't prove when he started doing them.
As for steroid use in general, I think it's dispicable. When I go to a sporting event, I'm going because I want to see athletes who have real talent, who can do something I can't. To think that I'd be paying to see someone who at best is mediocre, but because of steroids, is now dominating a league, that's just not right. It's cheating, flat out. I mean, it's fine if you want to do that to your body, that's your own falut. But don't make those with real talent have to struggle to keep up with you just because you're cheating. The only way to become the best at something is throught practice and training. And while I think that the actual percentage of baseball players using steroids is very small, those few who are doing them are tainting a great sport and all those who legitimately work hard for their success.
And I remember now, at the top of my lungs in my arms, she dies, she dies.

Oh I completely agree. I mean a few weeks ago I put up a thread about Raffy and that with his numbers he deserves the bid to the Hall of Fame, but now after learning this no way he gets in and if he does, like Rose, he should have an asterisks by all his achievements.Originally Posted by pyoro-pyoro

Now ESPN is proposing the question. Should Raffy retire because of all of this?
My answer to that is no. Giambi didnt and he admitted it. Raffy should keep playing until he feels its time for him to retire. Sure his legacy is tainted but he can still contribute and is still a decent ballplayer at the moment, now if he cant play because he's off the juice then thats another story.
