    Registry help

Alright, recently I modified my registry a bit to show all extensions in windows xp (including the "super-hidden" extensions such as .pif) and all was good. The way I did this was deleting the "nevershowextension" Dword value in various keys. However, there is one single extension which I absolutly do not want shown and that is .lnk (shortcuts). I backed up my registry prior to doing this, however upon loading the backup .lnk was still displayed o_O

I have already tried unchecking "show extensions for known file types" and then rechecking it a moment later, .lnk seems to want to stay. Would anyone perchance know what bloody registry key I need to readd this Dword value to?

Below is a link to a XP help forum, they are very knowledgeable and probably can give a better response than people on this site.

    Re: Registry help

I'm not sure why you played with your registry to just view hidden files and extensions.
What you can do is open any folder in XP...Let's take My Documents for exemple.

My Documents -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View (Tab)

You have multiple options in there, such as viewing hidden files, hide extensions, etc.
There's also a Restore Default button (which might fix your problem).

    I hope that helps you.
