If your looking for weird games then get Guilty Gear, wich id one of the best fighting games ever. Zone of the Enders:the 2nd Runner is the best PS2 mecha game.
It falls a bit short in the area of actually being an RPG though...
In Play magazine, their cover story is about Magna Carta, a game from Korea, that's supposed to be coming out soon. The visuals are astounding, and from what I read, it's supposed to be a bit off the beaten path as far as RPGs go; at least the article said that it doesn't have as many RPG cliches as most others. The battle system sounds really good too; like it actually makes you want to battle and level up your characters. You might want to check that one out...
