Thread: should i cosplay for Prom?

I would only suggest doing it if your comfortable with the idea. If you are it sounds like it could be a blast. If you're not...you would be miserable. Your call.

As for the prom, save the costume for a convention. People like to talk behind your back when you do something out of the ordinary, like cosplay at a prom. Some of them aren't nice and won't know the costume.

If you don't care what people think, just stay home.

i don't care what other people think of me, thats true enough...

but i want to have fun and hang out with the pitifuly few friends i have outside of cyberspace. therefore i would go. but i'm not the one asking the question.

and it is precisely BECAUSE i don't care that i would go to the prom (or morelikely to work, my boss would have a coniption ) in cosplay. it's fun and raises public awareness of anime.

And therein lies the problem, my friend. While yes, it may indeed raise public awareness of anime, it will also effectively re-enforce the popular beleif that anime-goers are a bunch of loser-freaks who are dumb enough to go to a prom dressed as a cartoon character. As a matter of fact, your act of going to the prom as an anime character could quite possibly make ME look bad because I, too, like anime.

So do me - and all of us respectable anime fans - a favor. Don't be an idiot and damage all of our images. Dress like a normal person. For God's sake, please.

I agree with everyone. Dress like you want, But anime caracter should be too much. You can fit your dress from some caracter, But stay out of fantasie.

ok.... i will.... but only because the only characters i really like in anime's are girls andi suck at sewing...
