We cannot live without it either. I never heard that Dihydrogen oxide as the other name for water. I guess that is just a different nomenclature. Our body itself is composed of water (H20), I think about 60 percent.
Dihydrogen Oxide...It can kill you! Everyone should be aware of this silent killer.
For more info: http://www.dhmo.org/facts.htmlCauses excessive sweating and vomiting
A major component of acid rain
Can cause severe burns in the gaseous state
Accidental inhalation can kill you
Primary contributor to erosion
Decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
Has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients
May dissolve metal ions especially in the presence of road salt
Everyone needs to be aware and cautious of this substance. We all consume it everyday without even knowing. My chemistry teacher was talking about it in class and said it is very serious. This along with the use of crisco in peanut butter... But DHO is a serious problem in our society. Do you think we should ban it? Considering there are so many problems it can bring. I'm just shedding a little light on something that has been going on for some time. I will be doing a petition in school for the banning of dihydrogen oxide. Again I ask, should we ban it?
P.S. Dihydrogen Oxide = Water. Because dihydrogen oxide is just only water and I find the link I provided to be hilarious, I put this in the Cyber Lounge because I believe there is no real basis for a debate. The question asked in my post is just for fun and of course a topic starter over the silent killer, dihydrogen oxide.

The Silent Killer, eh? I dunno... hurricanes are made of water, and they're noisy as hell.
It's Carbon Monoxide!!!!
I saw an ad that said that.
And if someone made mustard gas, that too. Damn you WWI and II!
Grumble Grumble Grumble
There was actually a city in California that almost passed an amendment for control of the industrial solvent Di-hydrogen oxide, until someone realized... And there was a recent conviction in the death in a college hazing incident, where someone died after being forced to drink 5 gallons of the stuff... You also have to mention that it's the closest thing to being a universal solvent. And 'heavy' isotope version is associated with the production of nuclear weapons...
(Still, It's not even close to April the 1st. This thread is half a year too early...)
Yeah I'd have to agree this thread would have been great without said ps. Though many of us wouldn't fall for it, Quan tried to pull this on us back in 2003 until some of our more chemically inclined members came across the thread.
