A simple tech question

The cd drive in my laptop is both a dvd player and at the same time capable of cd burning, so does anyone know if that means I could burn dvds too??

And since I created this thread already, I might as well throw in another question. What is this grunge thing that all those wallers talk about??

not really. When they said "hybrid" It mean can read DVD & CD but can only burn CD-R & CD-RW. Unleast you have buy a DVD burner.......

the grunge is a effect that some waller use to make old style or else to the art....

Don't know much but you should look for more info over the internet..... in the PS tutorial....

it'd be better if you would clarify what type of combo it is.

dvd/cd-r combo is still an ambiguous terminology. do you know if it's dvd-rom/cdrw combo? or is it really a dvd-rw/cd-rw combo.

if it's the former then no, you cannot burn dvd's. if it's a dvd-rw/cd-rw combo, yes it can. why they even bother saying that is beyond me since all consumer dvd players themselves are able to burn cd's, so why bother putting in the extra acronym.

my laptop has a cdrw/dvd module on it, and it can't burn dvd's. oh but it clarifies that it doesn't burn dvd's right? CD-RW/DVD MODULE. what about dvd/cd-rw? oh, the play on the arrangements of words...

look, just get nero, click on recorder -> click on choose recorder and there it will clarify what you can burn. done and done.

okay that makes sense, then probably my drive is not capable of burning dvds then

because I see two icons outside my drive

the "compact disc rewritable" and "DVD rom"

if u see dvd-rom that means you can only read the disks. you can't burn dvdrs or dvdrws. seeing cd-rw means you can burn cdr and cdrws.
