![]() ![]() | Re: sushi For homemade sushi, there's nothing like a cone filled with a huge piece of fatty tuna, a little sushi rice, and shiso (Japanese basil). The secret is getting the rice perfect- harder than it sounds. The vinegar and sugar have to be just right. Also, you'll almost never find shiso in average sushi joints. The first time I sat down with Japanese people for a sushi party, I started to make rolls. I was met with laughter all around. I guess it's somewhat of a faux pas to emulate restaurant style rolls when making individual servings. It got funnier after a few sake bottles. Oh, and if you live by any sea port, don't bother with supermarket for fish. Just go down to the pier early in the morn, and buy right from the fishermen. That's true sushi grade fish.

![]() ![]() | Re: sushi Yum sushi! I've been attempting to make home made sushi... yeah... I'm working on it (I have a wonderful Japanese friend who helps me out!) It's very hard to find good sushi places where I live... And if I do find one, well... It's far to expensive!
