find an activity that you like, say painting. do a painting class and find girls there. you 2 would be off on the right foot due to the fact that you already have something in common.
movies and concerts are good, but ladies tend to go with other friends to these events, so it'll make it harder for them to be approached.
don't lie to them, you start telling lies, u won't be able to stop.

i met my last girlfriend in school and ive been going out with her since about febuary 23rd (almost a year)
omg my friend lied to his gf when they started going out and when she found out she puntched him in the face in front of the whole school
he told her some dumb things though
first off he was "rich"
..and he had a "4 purebred huskies" (that was her fav dog)
and lol the thing that really got her going was he told her he was secretely a superhero and told her if she told anyone he would kill her family with a 12 guage

So find things they actually do.
When I was in college the smart guys would take dance or weaving or cooking or other classes that were mostly girls. There would be 15-30 girls and one or two guys. Let me tell you they had no problem getting dates. The class would give them something in common right off the bat and they could just take it from there.
i've been to dance and cooking classes, where there was only 1 or 2 other guys with 30+ women. don't do martial arts, not alot of ladies are into that.
