the trouble with webservers......
i'm trying to set up a web server. it will be used by myself and a select group of people i have met online.
easy enough with linux since linux is a server to begin with...
now that i have it set up i want to do a few things for security/fun.....
i have created subdirectories in the cgi-bin directory corresponding to each user's account
the directories have been 'chown'ed to [username]:superuser and 'chmod'ed to 775
they have also been linked to the user's public_html directory as a soft link named cgi-bin
i want users to be able to run CGI scripts in this fashion but it's not working.
(results of ls -l in ~dragonrider/public_html)
lrwxrwxrwx 1 dragonrider users 29 2005-05-26 11:21 cgi-bin -> /var/www/cgi-bin/dragonrider//
drwxr-xr-x 4 dragonrider users 168 2005-05-05 07:46 htdocs/
drwxr-xr-x 2 dragonrider users 496 2005-02-14 09:42 images/
-rw-r--r-- 1 dragonrider users 2504 2005-05-05 09:32 index.html
is there some setting i need to change? or should i do this in another way? any help would be appreciated.....
