Are video games training the next generation of solider?
Are frist person shoters training the next generation of soliders? It started with 007 for nintindo 64 and has made it Halo2 for the Xbox. They are games strategy games full of blood that show you how to kill some one with a gun, down to haveing a trigger.Does this mean the skillz of video games of this kind will make you a better solider?
I love Halo2
Re: Are video games training the next generation of solider?
you are pretty much right if you go to army officer school you will play a game to tech you how to fight in the citys. the rule is you are not allowed to fail at all. in the game you cab take you men to a medice bu tthe solider playing it cant let is troops get shoot. the game is really hard
Re: Are video games training the next generation of solider?
it takes more than a trigger finger and good hand-eye cordnation to make a solider. A fun past-time, but hardly what I'd consider military training.
Re: Are video games training the next generation of solider?
I think that yeah....
I play many first person shooters and strategy games....
although its not the same.... some friends and I played paintball and I took "command".... after a few minutes of checking the field I divided us into 4 groups and gave the "strategy"... then during the "battle" I started fighting as if I was playing Counter Strike....
in the end we kicked @$$!..... XD
although it doesnt give much physical skill.... it helps in other ways...
Re: Are video games training the next generation of solider?
i doubt it. sure it takes a great tactical mind and lightning fast finger reflexes to win a shooting game or RPG, but don't forget that videogames rot our brains....slowly....
Re: Are video games training the next generation of solider?
in the end, a solider's job is to follow orders, not say, "hey, this one tactic I did in command and conquer once worked real good, maybe we could try that!" No. You are trained to be an effient killing machine, not a brilliant tactician.
