With out a doubt sims are used to learn from.Flight sims and car sims are some of the ones used to train people, ever some docters use sims befor the go into surgery. But what is the skill you truely gain from playing video games, oh yeah hand eye coordination.I belive that hand eye coordination is used in almost every thing you do that involves your hands. So haveing better skillz with your hands and eyes should help you to be a better solider.

If it was like MGS VR, yes.
    Why?
Because if you were trained like that you wouldnt fear death or pain.
But VR wont get you in shape, THERES ALLWAYS GONNA BE BASIC TRAINING KID!

Video games are being used to train soldiers, but it's definitely not Halo 2 for the Xbox. The Army have their own video games that they use, one of them is actually out on shelves. Look up America's Army, America's Army: Operations, or America's Army: Special Forces. Those are the official U.S. Army's video games.

Amerca's Army is the Army's version on teamwork and combat experience. Full Spectrum Warrior is another one of the Army's video games. However, Full Spectrum Warrior taught battle tactics.

I haven't played Full Spectrum Warrior, I've only played AA. And AA was actually a pretty awful game. For a soldier, AA would be useful, since it teaches teamwork in battle and so on, but it was incredibly hard when I played it. And the missions were rather lengthy, since I didn't know what the hell I was doing.

But of course, AA was also used for other reasons: recruiting. And many parents around the country were angry that AA would train children to be better soldiers.

So, who really knows. Resident Evil 4 could be training for a new biogenetic virus.
