How is this any different then not selling Playboy Magazines to minors, or alcohol, or tobacco products, or perscription drugs, or guns, or using tanning salons, or signing a legal contract, or ....

The thing is, the 'Magic' age of Adulthood has always been in the range from 18 to 21. Under the age of 18 your parents (or legal guardians) are responsible for your actions and well being in the eyes of the law, and as such, are responsible for your upbringing. To ask that the age of Adult legal responsibility be lowered is like asking to make it OK to kick you out of the house at the age of 14... Is there a compelling reason to change the age limit?!?!

Im not saying the legal age of adulthood should be changed. lol Where did you get that? I just think passing some law saying you can't buy a violent video game unless your an adult is crazy. The news and tv has way worse things on it than video games. It should be up to the parents as to which video games their kids can buy. Parents just aren't involved in their kids lives today. They'd rather have the government raise their kids.

I think your missing the point. If there is a law passed requiring those games to be bought by adults it will allow parents to be more involved since they will be the ones buying them. Without it they often have no idea what their kids bought without walking in on them playing it.

It will also protect kids from unethical salesmen who sell inapropriate games to them without caring. There are, unfortuantly, alot of them.

Thats what I was saying, they don't know what their kids are buying. But they could if they got more invoved. Sometimes you have to be a snoop. They just rather have the gov do it for them rather than making the effort to know what your kids are up to. Anyway they will get the games anyway like cigarettes and booze.

good point Arianna, It would do so much good if a law like that was actually passed....because kids in their early teens should not playing games like The Punisher or any of the GTA's unsupervised. If the parents decide that its ok, well thenthats another story i guess. But i definately agree with you on the pros of a law like that

Yes early teens i agree, but what about someone 17?

well a 17 year old buying a game of that calibur isn't as bad, because at that point the person is pretty much on their way out of high school and about to enter the adult world, so most of the time someone that age would be mature enough for a violent themed game.
