Belittling is only done in abundance in "developed" countries, or so my opinion would be, for the most part but then again I havent kept traces on every person that has ever existed to see if this claim was completely true so I could be wrong. But it is just one man's opinion.
You are of course allowed your opinion.

I was friends for awhile with several people who had fled Africa because of everything that is happening there. From what I saw they were no different then anyone else I have ever met. In my opinion, people are people no matter where you go. But from what I have seen "more modern" countries tend to be more tolerant rather then less. Perhaps because they are faced with it more then someone who has never left their village. But then that's my opinion.

I absolutely agree with you. I don't know how many times i hear girls/guys while standing in line making fun of someone's appearance within earshot. it's unbelievably rude and petty.

but i live in l.a.,where fat, not f*ck, is dirty word.

Not too long ago a girl in my health class who is disabled was being picked on. I have no idea why. But I think that whole "walk a mile in their shoes" saying applies to that incident. I mean, I critcize people from time to time, well probably more often than that. To be quite honest, I don't know why. Sometimes I'm jealous of something to do with them. In the disabled girls case I think it's a lack of understanding. They critcize her and almost make it out that it's her fault she's like that, I sincerely doubt she wants to be in the position she's in now. I generally critcize people and the things they do if I already know them and don't agree with what they are doing. I'm sure people have their reasons, I can't really pinpoint where my critcisms spawn from.

..but that's all they are. °

you can not criticise some one that you can not see things from their perspective.

Exactly my point, they do not deal with as many people who are like that (for the most part) therefore "more modern" people deal with it more. That was all I meant by my first statement. I'm sure its there, I wasnt saying it wasnt because its everywhere and I'd be shocked if it werent some place, but in comparison to a place like the United States its not used quite so much to belittle people. And I agree it is for our tolerance level here that we dont haul off and shoot people for the same things, but then again sometimes we do.

Gotta admit feels nice having an actual debate with someone on here haha.

Yes, although critism can be productive at times, it is also used to secure a person's insecurities. For humans, it is their way of relieving themselves of their own self-doubt, often being done in jealousy.
Yet, one must learn to accept critism, not deny it. It might be just the truth, after all.

its all desire's fault. we criticize cause we wanna be better than others, we wanna be in the center of attention. but dont forget about jealousy, anger, and hatred.
