We won't run out of water because we always have the same amount of water on our planet at any given time. The water you've drunk has already been part of someone else's urine.
If there are countries without *clean* water then the developed countries have a duty to help provide them with it. And not make a profit from it.
That's an interesting point about overpopulation, it's easy to forget how much land world wide is coorperatly owned. The human race needs to look at a control for it's population though, we are like a nasty virus on this planet. We suck it dry of life, keep multiplying and give next to nothing back in return. But I won't get started on that, it usually gets people upset with me ^_^;

Hell yeah, not just that but there's an awful lot of things that need changing. I remember reading through my father's copy of Tao Te Ching and at the beginning had a prophetic approach to the 4 epochs, stating that greater benefits to human kind will come when they overcome greed to distribute technology and health evenly. I figure the 4th epoch will happen or we will die before that.
If we looked globally, how much power could we produce with windfarms and solar panneling and other such things. Even though there is terrible global warming effects and terrible damage to the planet, if we give it a chance to regenerate it will. Of course nothing lasts forever but I wonder just what will be left for our children or our grandchildren when those days come with the way things are.
Bit more general than just water though lol
Do you think the progress of global warming and the shift in the earth's magnetic field will cause any water to disipate due to the greenhouse effect?
If your not fammiliar with the earth's magnetic field shifting, look it up! North will become south, and South will become north!
We found out that this happened many times over the millenia, because near areas where magma cools constantly, we can figure out that:
Magma cools and when it hardenes, it imprints the earths magnetic field in itself. Cutting down into the layers, we find that the earth's magnetic field has switched often. When this happenes, the earth's magnetic field weakens, allowing more heat to come in through the atmosphere. So far, earth is overdue, and is currently in the beggining stages of this shift. This was predicted through supercomputers, existing data, and other facts.

Not likely. What most people aren't telling you is that the very slight difference in tempeture caused by "global warming" is actually helping to stave off the next ice age we're due for. If there is a loss of water the iceage will cause it by locking moisture in the new ice formations. An increase of tempeture world wide would actually result it a "garden" senario. More water will become availible rather then less. Areas not farmable currently would become grain belts as additional moisture in the air changed the climate.Originally Posted by youth_anime_fan
As for a magnetic change. Well we're overdue for that as well. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
I think they'll be a war over water.. like another pirate age. But i don't think htat it is close to happening... Maybe in bout 20 years or so.

Salutations everyone. My first post here on the forum.
Not necessarily, while the cost of water I am about to quote does not speak for the rest of the world, in the US, tap water costs $2.00 per 1,000 gallons and 5 cents for water consumed to flush sewage.Originally Posted by youth_anime_fan
Arrianna also has a valid point, with desallination and water reclaimation technology, wars over water may never happen.
Lastly, I have noticed that many have posted that the impending magnetic pole shift may lead heating of the Earth. Far from it. Doing a bit of research, the last pole shift occured about 750,000 years ago. While that was occuring the Earth was in a Glacieral Period (an ice age). See the graph below
If memory serves me correctly, the magnetic field has no affect on the heating of the Earth, as it can not screen out the visible electromagnetic energy which is abosrbed by the Earth's surface (which is then re-radiated as long wave Infrared radiation [which we can feel as heat]).
