Oh, yes. Gainax, I believe the company is, has been kicking around the idea of a fullscale NGE live action US movie. They asked WETA to start on the pre-design sketches, and those art pieces are just concept art. If they go into production - that's if, mind you - then the movie will take so long to finish, that it will not be released until 2010. Not 2006, as said, but 2010. That's gonna be a frickin' long wait, but if it turns out as good as it's looking (which is doubtful), then it's going to be worth every minute of the wait.
It's one thing to change their names. It's another to change the way they look... the characters seem so much older.... at least the mecha designs are similar.
I would have preferred another season of NGE... oh well...
