When a friend of yours decide to sign up onto AO and in his/her signup process decides to put your name "sora" into the "who referred you" part of the form, then you'll get one referall in your profile. Nothing extra about it, supposely the staff said it helps them see who's been bringing people in...

Q: What is a Referral and is it a good thing?

A: A referral is something you recieve if you refer someone to the site. On registration there is a text box that asks "if you were referred by someone who was it?" If you referred them they will put your name in the box. Nothing special about the referrals, it just lets the staff and other members know whos been helping out the site by advertising on other sites.
