gimp is good coz its free! ^^ buh i think alot of ppl prefer photoshop simply coz it can do more stuff

The best would be some sort of photoshop. You get these programs from stores like Best Buy or something like that. ^__^

Adobe Photoshop CS2 is the best. And, you can use Cinema4D to make abstract renders and use them later in photoshop to blend them in the signature background/character render hope that this will help you!

I use adobe Photoshop or adobe Image ready,

They are easy to use, Especialy if you work with layers.

And if you search the web you can find turitols for photoshop.
