It could very well be that mankind is at a evolutionary 'Dead End'. The normal conditions that make evolution possible is isolation of a genetic population, combined with selection pressures from a new environment. The state of mankind today, modern travel and transportation has eliminated the isolation of human groups, and with modern technology, the environment no longer modifies mankind, instead, mankind modifies the enviroment. It's going to take a drastic change in conditions, (Global thermonuclear war, Dinosaur killer class asteroid impact, or 'Generation Ship' deep space travel), to provide condtions were 'Natural Selection' can once again have a major impact on a population...

    Super Hyper Jets... yes, definitely.

Like LenMiyata said, homo sapiens have more or less weasled our way out of natural selection. Not only this, but the collective human genepool has become enormous. How many billion people live in the world today? What this means is there's a large degree of genetic variance, which protects us from many recessive type mutations, mutations being one of the driving forces of evolution (though rarely beneficial). Now, humans are a niche species, though. We require very specialized environments to survive, if that environment were altered or simply disappeared?... We'd probably all die, but there's that very, very small chance that an itty, bitty percentage of the population might have the genetic data to help the species survive. But, yeah, nothing short of global catastrophe is going to lend to human evolution.

I don't think we'll have a chance to evolve any more, even if it were possible. We'll probably kill ourselves off before any sort of evolution can take place, what with nuclear weapons. One of these days, one of the leaders who possess these are just bound to "slip" on the big, red button, which will cause another one to "slip" in retaliation...

Or we'll spend all the world's resources and die from asphyxiation.

Or we'll poison ourselves with an abundance of pesticide use and chemical use in crops and cattle, respectively.

I have a cynical view of humanity though. =)

I also think evolution is at a dead in. But as humans want to play god, then within the next 100 hundred years i wouldn't doubt people modifying their bodies for certain conditions. In fact i'm almost certain there is already ways to modify ur body... 1 such as plastic surgery. But how will that effect the future i do not know...
