Why Bleach named Bleach?

Bleach is a great and famous anime. But the name doesn't seem to be any connection with the anime.
Anyone knows why this anme "bleach, named Bleach?

I agree with the gang here at AO. It is due to the bleached hair of Ichigo-----

But, this might be a totally wrong theory...

Ne.. In my dictionary Bleach mean whitening; material to make clothes white.
So if Ichigo had a bleached hair, why he had a orange hair, not white?
