I'd take a good book over a "manga" anyday. Nothing more than comics to me.
Well i don't really care if i read a novel or a manga book because reading is awesome, it doesn't matter what you read, what it matters is what you learn from reading stuff from books.
I love both, I guess it depends on what I'm in the mood for. I love to emerse myself in a novel, and I love to read a few pages of manga as well. I read a bit of each every day, so you could say I have a good balance act going.
As for intelligence, I would have to say a novel is probably more beneficial that way--though manga can be equally enriching in others.
I'll go for manga it's great, but I also prefer novels, you learn more by reading them ... like better english.
