I would first ask "How did it happen?". If it was something like my Friend just walking up to someone and killing said person, I'd most likely stay the hell away from him, in fear that I'd be next or in fear that he might give me the blame of the Death. If it was Self-Defense, then I'd tell my Friend to talk to the police. You cannot go to jail for Self-Defense.
I would turn them in because it would be illegal not to :/
I'm with Zithious on this one. I would want to know what happened. If they said it was self-defense I would tell them to tell the police by ___ or I will. If they just wacked them I would get far away and then call personally as soon as possible. Seinfeld had some things right after all, who's to say you won't be next, and like Zui Quan pointed out:

If I turned in my friend, I don't think I could live with myself, if you aren't willing to go for jail your friend, chances are it's not them who's a bad friend, it's you.
And if they killed someone I didn't like, hell, I'm not turning them in, I'm taking them out to eat!
Most definately. I would tell the cops no matter what. Killing someone just isn't cool. I probably wouldn't if he killed me after he told me, but that's about it. Or if he said,"waste not want not" then maybee I'd go on a killing spree with him. But we would have to get to "those annoying standup comedians" that everyone likes. :cool:

what if the person he killed was someone you cared about, your other friends or family? HMM??
And IMO, to say that you wouldn't turn someone in jus cuz that'd be being a bad friend....i think that's just bull-crap. Of course that's what I think. To be a bad friend is to know your friend's faults and not even tell them about it. Think about how you would live your life knowing that you're friends with someone who killed someone and won't live up to the responsibilities. How would you live with yourself knowing that you're helping a killer not pay for his crimes.
If it was unintentional, or in self defence.....more the reason he should go to the police. He needs to explain it all and get it over with so he can live with himself again.
Revenge or not, killing is killing. If your friend tells you he killed someone he's looking for help, or he's just psycho and couldn't care less who knows...in which case he prob wouldn't care if the police found out anyway.
The hardest thing a friend can do is point out your mistakes and help you face them. The fake friends are the ones that follow you in your good times and are no where to be found when the heat gets too hot.
But if your "friend" killed a another friend or family member, technically he or she is not your "friend" anymore now is he/she?
I believe in most of our laws, but somethings you can't let the law get in the way. If you are true friends with someone, you should be willing to die for them, fight for them, but if they are just trying to mooch off you and take advantage of you, they never were your friend.
I would gladly lie for my friends and take on any consequences that followed. I'm not a coward and I will stand next to my friend and defend him. If you can't trust your friends like that, chances are they aren't your friend. If you are not willing to take a stand, sure maybe your just as crazy or insane as your murderous friend, but at least you can die later in life without regrets.
