It's fantastic
I've read the first 5 volumes of the manga (3 of those scanlated on Sakura Crisis) and seen the anime. I can safetly say that it's one of my favourite manga.
But then again I'm a shameless Yami fangirl.

But seriously it is a great manga, the art is cool, the character design is great (with bisshies as far as the eye can see) and story is solid, mysterious, funny in parts, as well as dark and angsty.
Tsuzuki has the most beautiful purple eyes in manga history, and the villian Muraki is so deliciosly insane and evil is fantastic.
It's alot like X (by Clamp) in parts and if you've read and liked X, you'll find yourself liking Yami, as well as slightly giggling under your breath at how similar the story and the characters are. (like the scene with Muraki and Hisoka under the Sakura tree) I swear Clamp and Yoko Matsushita must of been channelling eachother or something.
But yeah, warning through if you don't like Shounen-ai or Yaoi, you'll probably won't like Yami, for the things Muraki does to Tsuzuki are very close to Yaoiness in nature as you can get *big sweatdrop*

The manga is great, much better and more in depth than the anime was, if you like this type of manga I think you'll like it.
But it's not a manga for everyone.
