Hello everyone. Over the next day or so we will be moving the site to a new server as our current server company is closing. The move will require the site to go down for a few hours and is likely to take place either Friday or Saturday.
I will keep our AO Twitter account active while the site is down and provide information about the progress so please follow us on Twitter if you want to get those updates.
Moving to the new server should hopefully give us some more room to improve and update AO.

I have a question will we have to remake our accounts? when the ao board hits the new server then if so i will not mind remaking my account.
Because I have been on other board and some of those boards had to re made to fit the server and some accounts or id had to be remade..
So if my account /name gets taken out by the server then i can start over, it is not a promblem.. Later Spike

The forum is simply moving servers. User accounts will not change, it is a back end exercise that is not intended to affect the actual forum itself.

But how can you update something that is already so good? I dont know how the site could get any better. I hope it will reduce hackings but i am not sure of that.
When the site does move, expect some trouble getting to the site until the site can be propagated to the DNS servers in your area, or you can try flushing your DNS Cache.
a url like 'animeonline.net' is just a name, and really has nothing to do with the site at all other then giving the user an easy thing to remember to get a particular website, what matters is the websites IP Address.
What makes a URL possible is what is called a "Domain Name Server", or DNS like I said before. This device keeps a database of any and all Domain Names and their associated IP Addresses.
When you change a websites server, their IP Address changes, so this new change can take a few minutes, or a few days to fully take affect.
