Clans to Close December 14th

Hello All,

I would like to thank clan members, their leaders and others who have put time and effort into the clans. Unfortunately though, Mods and I have decided to close the clans.

I know for some of you this is rather devastating as it was your little hideaway behind safe walls. For others, it wont impact you at all. But for everyone, we hope the closure of the clans will pay dividends in the long run.

Some of the reasons why this decision was made are as follows:

Dormant members being in clans
Clans having empty forums within them
Clans having discussions which should be made for everyone to see
Inactive clans
Unecessary distraction

Overall, we feel the clans have detracted discussion from the public forums. AO is a place where all can mingle with each other in the one community. Discussions behind closed doors offers no real benefit to the future direction of AO.

It's time to streamline things that don't give real value here. Less distractions and more quality / focused areas is what is needed.

The clans will close on December 14th, so feel free to continue using them until this date. After that, only the current clan members will be able to continue to view the threads within. Don't worry... I wont open them up for the world to see.

Feel free to post your feelings / thoughts on this closure. However, the decision is final.

i even just got a few member in to the clan im in...

sheesh..

and the effort i did to make the clan active... oh well theres nothing i could do...black day indeed

Stream lined every thing to much takes away form making things fun and enjoyable for members to do when on the bored.Once the clan close i guarantee members that post in the clans and out wont come back on due to the clans being taken away.Like the bored needs the loss of any more members as is.

Like when the spam section was taken away,Almost half HALF of the members at the time left and did not come back because it was just no longer fun for any one to take part in.Plus it also had the nice effect of people getting to know one another better like in the clans we have now.As i see it its very beneficial to the bored and expanding friendships that my not normally happen talking in the regular forums.

Which in the long run makes for better posting and better quality post and discussion about topics and important matters at hand.So i do not see how its bad for the bored or members.If any thing that damn RPG section should get taken out its utterly pointless.

You know what this just makes me mad

I just started to get used to the people there. It's like taking a part of the people away... ~.~

A bit of fun is needed too... not only formal and "quality/focused".. .things... I did not come to this forum just to have serious conversations, where very little people listen to me anyways. So what that you can not have anything serious to talk about in the clan? I got to know people better, I got to relax for some time at last!
Everywhere on the forum, appart from the poem section, I read only those posts of the people which I know better. And the clan was one of the ways I got to know people better...

Sheesh I would have never normally talked to Ihauntforlust if not the clan! OR White Wolf Or LichGrifin... I would still be completely oblivious of how cool they are... sheesh..

As Lasura said the clans are bringing some of the others members together as a family and riping the picture down the middle of the clans is something the others who never got the chance to see what being in a clan will never get felling of being close to this community
