I never liked the idea of clans anyways. Having a place where only a select few can go where no one else can see can lead to "Elitism" where one group feels superior to others.

And like Dragon Ball said, it has detracted from the amount of posts on the main board.

I'm looking forward to the new flood of posts that would have normally been posted in clan forums

As a clan leader of both incarnations of the AO clans, I can say that I don't see what the fuss is about...there is nothing you can't do on the normal boards that you couldn't do in the clans with 2 exceptions depending on the clan leader.

1) Spam
2) Post hate messages about those not in your clans

Now unless you want to do those 2 things what is the big deal?

Out of the 10K+ registered members only 68 belong to a clan, and about half of those members didnt even bother to participate in them, so there is no dark day or flood of members leaving because of this closure. At the end clans are nothing more than a waste of resources...

Well, I admit, I want to spam. Sorry, but it was quite ok to be able to go somewhere and just post something about how you feel today or just talk to someone random. I never thought I'd say this but it is really nice to talk about nonsence from time to time.

If you want a chat room try AIM, Yahoo or one of the other messenger systems.

Yes I have seen people reading other's blogs and had to deal with people posting junk in thier blogs causing site drama, just because you think people don't use them doesn't make it so.

Likewise if someone is too shy to use the PM system...then they aren't going to join a clan...why? Cause you have to PM the clan leader and .... they might be too shy to do that.

I don't use the AO blog (Because I have a Wordpress blog on my own website), and I normally don't respond to PM unless they have some substance to it other then "hi" or "Go to this website for this and that"

The forum isn't for you to vent your feelings, thats what blogs and poetry is for, nor is it to just randomly chat. Its for quality discussions.

We've had a place where you could do those two things before: The Spam section. Anyone could post anything there (with in reason), and it had only one effect on the site, activity on the main forum dropped like a rock thrown out of a plane.

Well im not gonna say im exactly happy but im with The mods on this one. I belong to a clan but we didn't do anything of use. nothing that we couldn't do outside in the forums no one would talk and it just took up space and distraction. i however used to like the other clans were fun i was apart of the Sig team clan. i enjoyed that vastly. now the clans became nothing more than a bunch of people with threads that normal members cant see. plainly put
