Thread: Clans to Close December 14th

Thanks to this, some members will loose their faith even more

When people [normal members], or us moot members according to aceman67, are expected to post quality posts with no exceptions of spam and venting, we do so quite well and often, however we do get bored easily, since we don't always want to be bothered about how rdicilous our grammar is, how it doesn't make snese, how a mod misunderstood, got infractions, warning ... you know, everyday stuff.

The chat threads were for for entertainment, and they did worked. One assumption which was true was that they slowed down the forum activity. [Chat threads were part of the forum] and they served their purpose. members played, laughed, had some serious fun.
But it was decided to close down. No one wants to forward mesages to multiple users everytime as a replacement for the chat threads or the clans. Nor is everyone comfortable with the fact that you would have to send even more PM's [made worse by the 60 second waiting period] to other members to catch up-to date.

And hey, it's not hard to get an infraction, too. ^_^ So why do we bother comming to AO?
Not because it's great.
It's because we make friends here.

And friends are essential. Now, after the journals were not made public anymore [for the newbies, there used to be a seperate section/link for people to see journals without bothering to go through profiles ] profile systems were made ... won't go into this one, though.

How are we supposed the have fun here when the competetions are dominated by the experts, henceforth discouraging the newbies in that particular field, or where the RP systems are considered useless by 56% of the members [don't worry Hassun, I surveyed ] and about the rest 20% or so don't enjoy it? Arcades are okay, but we can go to google and search for it, too.

@ Chiefblackhammer: - When you mentioned your clan, I think you forgot to mention that no two clans are the same. My clan, so far, enjoys ours, it's no dull, monotonous place.
We take our feelings out, different from venting, and talk about how their day at work or AO sucked. And we help out! Duh ........

We can't write a poem about this!

Now all of this feels so gay.

Bear in mind, that this is a just a tip of the iceberg if we are to write poems about how we feel about AO.

Now to the clans: -
By closing the clans, you therefore remove the last opportunity for the members to open up and socialize [rather than posting posts blah blah] and, subsequently seazing the only place for us normies to relax and discuss like humans, rather than proper posting members.

Face it. We might not give a damn about how a member feels yet we give them an occasional advice. You won't see us raving on about our love life in cyber lounge or what should I do or what's happening to me or how AO pissed us off or how we used to have good times or how we met someone we care about. Becase WE KNOW that it is not frequent that someone would see our journals - reason being some of us aren't known much or sometimes the profiles load slowly ... yet in a clan, we feel in a second home. PM's get dull, eventually, nor are we allowed to have a group discussions in a place outside the clans.

Is this really the end? Geez. AND it's not so hard to fake your way into the dating system as well.

I'll wait to reply more, until someone who opposes me or this post shows up.

The message board itself is meant to help people socialise. We're also not some kind of weird government trying "to repress the normies".
Saying that humans =/= members just sounds strange to me. We encourage you to discuss "like humans" all over Anime Online.

Haha, you don't have to do anything about that, Hassun-sami, let AO take its course.

No, the moderation is fine. People just need someplace to unwind and play games with other people.

And, moderation is balance.
And about moderators, some of them are egotestical. Yet I have to quiet myself down and the only thing I can do is to report it to Db.

Well, I meant that members are posters ... let's assume. And humans are what we are in chat threads and clans.
Now, humans in discussion are people posting and sharing their ideas.
I suppose you remember me from the chat threads? And how I acted.

When I first came here I wondered what the clans were. It seemed only select people had clan banners. I just figured it was like the clicks in school.

Just a couple of the reasons people are listing for needing their clans are...
1.) Making friends & keeping in contact with friends
2.) Posting posts/threads they like, but feel they can not otherwise

1.) As a non-clan member I have made some good friends. A couple of them are even clan members. Apparently my not being a clan member did not deter them from initiating contact with me. A few people PM/talk with me quite alot. I have had many members contact me after reading my posts, checking out my profile, or just seeing me listed as on-line. They found me without the need of a clan, even though some were clan members themselves. Some of them have maintained the contact without the need of a clan forum.

2.) I would think you would want to share your threads/posts with more members. This will enrich the forum boards, and give many more members the option of taking part in your fun. If you feel their is not a forum for some of the things you want to discuss, ask DragonBall. The worst he can say is no. Just use the PM system if you want to talk smack about someone. Plus you may find more friends if you read posts of non-clan members, as well as clan members.

I understand that it is just like you favorite hangout closing, but it is not the end of the world. You will just have to work a little harder to stay close. Look at the bright side, you may even find that their are new friends out there waiting to be found.
