Your instructions are great Len. BUT, if someone was reading your instructions, I'm sure they don't have that problem otherwise they wouldn't be able to read them. hahaha

From the description of the symptoms, it sounds like something was hard-coded to the AO IP address that was sitting in his cache... (perhaps a Mozilla toolbar link?). though granted, if it was a problem with the main AO website, then he wouldn't be able TO POST, let alone read the answer...
