Thread: Proper descriptions and keywords for images

Sometimes tell a mini story~

The Person "spy" or "look at that," or "omg its me."

Nobody is going to search on ">.<" "o.o" ">_<ll" ">.<;" "^_^" etc. Sure, these can be used in descriptions as part of an overall sentence, but shouldn't be used in keywords or titles.

At first I disagreed with the infractions and screamed at Sinistra for this but then after he explained it I started to understand. I hope you get the results you are wanting from this Dragon Ball.

makes sense ,maybe there will be less junk in the gallery after the infractions are handed out

i'd we had set up a small 'how to use the gallery effiently" rulebook XD.,
It seems now, we will be coming down on the gallery pretty hard now too.

Use of the gallery is rather simple. Guidelines can be found at http://www.animeonline.net/faq.php?f...faq_faqgallery. I have also placed them below:

Before uploading images to our gallery, please keep the following points in mind:

• All images must contain an accurate description and keywords. No descriptions of just "Me". Instead use something to describe yourself in the image.
• All rendering and wallpaper work must be done by yourself.
• If an image is from another site, give credit to that site.
• Ripping will result in an infraction of 30 points. The infraction will expire after 7 days.
• Anyone found uploading hentai, porn or other inappropriate images will loose their gallery access for a week or 2 depending on the severity.

Correct me if I am wrong but the MAIN point of keywords is more for spiders and bots searching the internet. Given they are looking for these keywords with the intent to update their registry with the site listing as an association with the said keyword. That way when people search (say google) they "find" this site. The more of the keywords the site has then the more relevant the spider/bot looks at the site to the keywords when updating the registry. If this is the case then what you are trying to achieve would be a lot easier if the gallery was setup differently.

First leave the keywords the way there are (user manually specified) for member pics, desktop screenshots (I still do not understand why we have that) etc….given people don't search the internet for forum member pics etc... The members of this site will just look at the member’s profile/gallery that they want to see a pic of to see them…at least that is what I assume/do.

What people are searching the internet for are game, anime or cartoon characters and the series they are in. Thus if you forced people to specify a valid anime, cartoon or games (via a dropdown list...this isn't hard to do in PhP/MySQL) name when they submit wallpapers, renders, scans or sigs you automatically get at least 1 valid keyword. Also the gallery can be sorted/searched by series title (a plus for members).

Then the members can use the “manual” keyword part for say the character name(s). Most people posting wallpapers, sigs, scans or renders who truly made/created them will know and fill these out.

I understand that makes the gallery mods have to do a little more work when something is categorized wrong but you could always add more mods for that...though I doubt it will be a big deal.

Giving infractions for not using proper keywords/descriptions…you may start getting “forget you getting my works I will take them else where.”
