Server Maintenance Scheduled for Sunday

Over the past few days, we have noticed pages loading very slow. Hence, we will be upgrading server hardware for a few hours from about 1am US time Sunday 25th November.

During this time, the forums will be closed. Hopefully when you all wake on Sunday morning, a faster and better AO will be waiting for all.

Ahh. Sinistra did say near future. I didn't except it to be this near. lol

This is a good news though, just a couple hours ago the site was extremely laggy. I couldn't even get past the Home page. It sucks that you're doing it at 1am Sunday. Though it is the best time to do it, I happen to be an insomniac. But how long do you think it will be down for?

Up to 12 hours. The current dedicated server is not handling well due to other busy sites on it. This was the original server from when I acquired this site.

So we are moving AO to it's own dedicated server. Once the database and files are all moved to the new server, then the domain name needs to propagate throughout the web. So could take up to 12 hours or so.

An inconvenience I know, but a necessary change.

If it's 12 hours, then why not do it from 12am to 12 pm? Seems more reasonable.

And yea, I'm glad that AO is getting its own server now. It's a hassle, but a good one.

Yea it's going to be great to see this place running fast again. Though its still faster than MT.

Yeah, I had been noticing some lag when it loaded the pages. I was going to say something but I figured it was just my current internet connection.

Just to let all know, the scheduled upgrade will occur at midnight. (In 1 hour). So the board will be down for a few hours.

Kinda sucks to see it go down for so long, but I'm glad to see you took my suggestion of making it from 12:00 to 12:00. lol
