Special Characters in your Username

If members have special characters in their username, they must first access their profile and update their name before you will be able to view it in the zoints system.

Eg: "Fred (^_^)" would contain special characters. If you cannot view your zoints profile, then be sure to change this by yourself.

If a member tries to access their profile, the system tells them that the special character will not work and gives them the ability to change their profile name. So "Fred (^_^)" might change his profile name to Fred234. This is because special characters cannot display in urls.

Here, from the rules/FAQ:

You can alter any of the fields in your profile, except your username. Once you have registered your username, it becomes yours for life. In extreme circumstances, you may request that the administrator change your username, but he or she will require a very good reason to do so.

So, shortly, you can't change your username unless you have a special reason...

I applaud this action. people should be more creative with their user names.

I always found it annoying that people put those characters in their names in the first place.
