Thanks Mate! (New Feature)

One of the biggest problems on forums as you may know is 'post boosting'. There are users who LOVE to say 'thanks' whenever they can. How can it hurt? Their post count goes up, they have nothing to loose.

There are also users who really like to express their thanks to post but don't like posting a post that looks like they're post boosting.

Then comes the moderators who have to delete people's thanks you's so a thread can look readable without the thanks you's thrown around.

Finally comes the posters of these useful posts. They have no idea how many people really likes their posts if only some people say 'thanks'.

Well, this new feature fixes ALL these problems - except those users who like post boosting. This places a button called 'thanks.' When a user clicks on it, it places their username in a box right under the post saying that so-and-so says 'thanks' for the post. Every-one who clicks is placed in one box.

Finally, if someone could post a replacement image to suit our style, I will then replace it with the current image which is rather ugly. Just try to keep it within the same dimensions. I will also ask Trunks if he can make the same style as current buttons.

Overview

• Users can't thank twice
• Users can't thank their own post
• Guests don't see 'thanks' button
• Counts how many thanks a user gives
• Counts how many thanks a post gets
• Shows how many thanks a user gave in profile
• Shows how many thanks a user got
• Shows how many posts a user is thanked
• Shows info in profile
• Search for a users thanked posts
• Search for all thanked posts
• Administrator can remove all Thanks from a single post
• Users can remove their own Thanks

The Credits system is slowly coming together with the final bug fixes being made. Hope to have the credits system upgraded and enhanced within a month??

this is mainly for the Signature request thread.
so we don't post there saying I thank you, blah blah blah.

HAHAHA thanking people.

although i will probably never use it, its a nifty feature. although adding it to the credit system may not be such a good idea- there are rude ppl who will never thank others no matter what, and so then you will have a rift between those who thank and those who dont.:(

This also means that the mods are going to be a lot harder on those who post "it's great" or "I love it" posts since this feature allows members to do just that without posting junk. Nice feature DB ;)

What do you mean? Like getting credits for saying thanks? All that will do is cause ppl to say thanks everywhere to get credits.

ohh.. another new good improvement to AO... nice... good job with this one DB :D i like this feature... if u find a very good post... you can thank the person easily... lol... and not just keep it in the heart.. but wont people be forgetting the reputation system? @.@
