An Artist's Soul

While i make something based on my feelings,
Some people see it as lovely ,
And some see it ugly.

I torment myself to achieve perfection,
Some people see it as reaching,
And some think me sinking in darkness.

While my song is playing,
there are those who mourn
And some who criticisize.

While my sculpture is an attempt to show off beauty,
Some think it is horrid,
And some who think it should be sold commercially.

While my paintings are reflections of me,
Some see it as just a picture,
And some just see the depth of nothingness.

While my soul cries out for knowledge,
Expressing myself through all media
And hurting while feeling my pain.

I express myself as I try to reach perfection
I try to soar, I try to fly.
And never really knowing my heart's peace is my goal.

Wow! A poem about how ones self and their emotions... ties into their art.
Such a unique concept for a poem. You get an "A" just based originality!

As someone who like to think of my self as artist... I found this poem to be interesting on a couple levels. Esspecially the fact that you first talk about your feelings and your intentions. Then, you mention what a viewer, or critic may think or see in your work. Every artist has to think about and consider- What message is the "viewer" getting from your work... And, how does it cooincide, or differ from the emotions or message you were trying to capture (or release).
