My eyelashes pull back to reveal
the dark depths of my nervousness.

That thought twirls around the corner of my
mind.

My stomach falls apart, my palms become damp with
hesitation and uncertainty, I double over clutching
my insides.

I'm not sure who anyone is anymore,
no one really looks familiar and welcoming,
then there is you.

I can feel your breath against my ear,
even the soft brush of your lips feels real.

I don't lift my hand to feel for your hair,
because I know you're not there.
