I would give you a
flower, but don't you see
that this dandelion is
almost just like me?
It's pretty on the outside,
but is a terrible weed
that destroys everything
around it, kinda like me.
Not like I try to, but
it happens naturally.
Something goes wrong and
people start to pick at
Spriggity.
Plucked from the garden,
because it does not belong.
It just wanted to be loved;
is that so wrong?
You see, I've had that
happen to me as well.
And for a long time I was
in my own personal hell.
But now I know how
the dandelion deals with
being singled out and
the other bull-s***.
It releases itself and
flies with the wind,
then it lands on the ground
with the rest of it's kin.
It'll plant it's roots
and let itself grow.
Only to be plucked out
again, then away it goes.
Like the dandelion, I
don't think I'll fit in,
but I can still be unique.
I can still follow the wind.
So take this dandelion,
and give it sunshine.
When you see it in your
yard, you'll know in due time.
That even though I'm adrift
in this breeze we call life,
I can still float back to
your garden and be alright.
**When I say you, I mean anybody who reads this. This wasn't really written "for" anybody, per se--maybe for myself**
I really like this. It made me feel all smiley and warm. Which is interesting considering I don't feel MUCH better then I did yesterday. Thank god for Jamie. She helpped me feel better. And we didn't even doa nything. This is really well written. And while seeming to be longer then most of your writing wasn't winded or anything like that. It flowed well.
I dunno...
On one hand, I get this great feeling of self acceptance... And that made me smile.
But it also felt sinister... like you were saying "Yeah.. I choke out your flowers, I kill your lawn... but, love me anyway, and if you pull me out... I'll come back!".
And being sinister does not make me smile... it makes me laugh.

@ Peach: Well... the only reason why dandelions have to be like that- choking out other flowers and killing the lawn (though I think its beautiful yellow blooms are much better than just plain green) is because it can't do otherways because people are always trying to destroy it, thinking of it as only a weed not as beautiful flowers- everything in this world tries to protect itself and this is the way dandelions do it (and yes, you can think about all I just said in a figurative meaning too)
I really liked this poem and read it holding my breath even though I'm in no mood of reading sad poems right now... making me crazy. lol ^^ A very nice poem, and I love the way you've equated yourself to a dandelion, thinking about all the things... it's so cool...

I've always liked dandelions too, They're always beautiful... even when they're just the little cottony seedlings on a stem. Thats what I liked about this poem too, because dandelions spreading isn't a threat to me... Its a wish come true. Y'know... Like when you blow the seeds around, you're making a wish.
So, think about that...
