"Envy is ignorance"

“Envy is ignorance”,
The sun may envy the beauty of the moon,
Though, he does not see her surrounded in the darkness,
The sun gives the moon light,
This shines its beauty, so then, why envy her?

Like one soul is nourished by another,
But envy destroys its connection,
“Envy is ignorance”,
It belongs to those with no value of self,
It belongs to those who dwell on their pity.

A fish may envy a bird,
Even though the fish lives in a mystical world,
A world never seen from the eyes of a bird,
The fish does not see its own blessings,
For he is busy dwelling on what he does not have,
Why envy when you have much?

“Envy is ignorance”,
You blinded fool!
Reality will slap you,
Once you embrace it, you will understand its kindness,
And you just be who you are.

I really like this poem. I think more people need to be taught this type of thing when they're growing up. Envy is a useless emotion and all it does is ruine things. Be greatful for the things you DO have.

Thanks for your comment! I had to do this for a class and I thought that it came out well so I posted it. I think envy is useless, even though I feel these feelings at times but I cannot dwell upon them. I must move on or it will destory my life.
