Thread: Essence of My Soul

Walked around the world so care free and joyful.
Could the days of my youth have been traded for days so tear filled.
Shattered are the roads that forked off from my past.
I can't fathom how some of those memories have come to last.


As I manage to continue the walk of all walks.
My reflection reveals a tainted shred of dignity.
As I continue to focus on the talk of all talks.
I feel the essence of the path for my souls destiny.


Could this life ever stop these constant changes.
Or are all my greatest fears spent on hopeless engagements.
This path we all walk will one day lead us to a final destination.
I hope not to end this path alone due to others thoughtless procrastination.


The mirror tells a tale so blinding yet so true.
I hope one day my soul will rejoice and my expression will loosen when I do find you.

EDIT: This poem was written by myself a while back. It was an attempt to capture the emotions that come from the trials that life without a partner may bring. My original plan was not to place an emphasis on the sadness of the situation of being alone but to approach the situation with a hopeful point of view. Keeping in mind that this poem was appropriately a reflection upon how I was feeling at the time (hopeful but lonely), I realized that I could not write this poem without ignoring the reality of the situation. I feel the poem has a greater emphasis on seeing through my daily life with a hopeful view, yet at the same time pointing out the things that tend to run through all our minds when having a moment of loneliness... I hope this sheds some light on where I was attempting to head with this poem.
