The great definition.

What is love?
love is like the great eagle,
it's great wings pull it high, in greater and greater need
then in blissful surrender it drops, wings folded
but then at the last moment it pulls away, coming so close but never reaching the end.

and like the eagle is love.
it climbs the relationship building, "just friends as it were"
until the apex reached, the 'friend becomes oh so much more'
and in blissful surrender plummets into hope, only to pull away before telling
this is love, but only temporary

but now i stand here, or am i falling
i'm ready, ready to jump
and this time there will be no pulling up
in hope, in fear in joy i stand here now
and the waves of life may they never move me
as i say i love you
and this, this is love, that which is eternal
the fall continues, only to be born up on the winds of love.
