GTMO Ghost

Going up stairs but it’s other footsteps I hear.
I see nothing and feel a sudden rush of fear.
Panicked, frantically looking but nothing is there.
Still I hear something in the hot Cuban night air.
Realized it was only echo that got my ear.

GTMO Means guantanamo naval base, abbreviated in military code as GTMO, in the media as GITMO and pronounced "Get Moe."

What made me think of it is when I spooked myself out by my own echoing footsteps on my way to the courtyard at night. I swore I heard someone else but it was me.

the line that caught me was
