Sometimes I feel like
my writing has lost its power.
Power to make kids dream
in metaphors and similes.
The power of imagery that
can make the blind man see again.
I feel like my Haikus,
epigraphs and limericks
died in a collision course with reality.
I feel like they don’t call me
writer, lyricist, rhymester,
versifier, or composer anymore,
but instead a poser.
I feel like my magic pen
has run out ink,
and my thoughts have run away.
I feel like all my paper will only know
is half hearted attempts
at clichéd love poems.
It’ll never know the meaning
of a poet who writes to the people
never writing for the people,
or the writer who dreams
out of the box.
It’ll never experience
what it feels like to be worked
on over and over again
untill it feels perfected.
I feel like someone who
writes to please others.
Never to write the contents of the heart
on blue lines.
I don’t feel complete.

OMGosh, I've totally been feeling like that for the past couple of years. I'm losing my touch. I like this poem. I like your style. It's soft and actually a bit similar to mine. You use some interesting diction. "Died in a collision course with reality" is my favourite line in the poem, very creative.
you certainly manage to capture what is almost a dying state of teh arts in America.
Even though the poem expresses that the writer cannot speak to people...
This piece speaks straight to me. As a writer, I have felt this before... Feeling it now, actually!
The word choice is simple and yet very elegant and flowing. I particularly love these lines:
"I feel like my Haikus,
epigraphs and limericks
died in a collision course with reality."
That's really intense... it really gets the feeling across that the writer isn't just lost for words, but truly struggling.
Perhaps try playing with the line structure a bit... So that the flow will be even more smooth.
