Every song you've ever loved
was about someone you know,
revealing what about them;
echoing back as verbs.
Failing to describe such a smile,
unable to catch a teardrop in paint.
The sway in the music sings--
you start feeling the herbs
because all the songs you've ever heard
remind you of who is missing.
