High up in the treetops is a nest made with care
But the couple were thinking “my gosh!” its too bare
They ponder for minutes as ideas came to mind
However they were often caught in a heavy bind

While Sunlight penetrates through the dark forest floor
Hell chomping Vines creep up and sprout from the core
The cracked ground rumbles causing havoc to the nest
Sturdy and balanced, the cradle is put to the test

As molten lava gushes up through the narrow fissure
Animals rush out from their habitats to seek a cure
But the damage is too great and down comes the tree
With no second to spare, the horrified lovers flee

This poem felt very green and tree-huggerish... which is all good. It put a touch of drama in a situation most would never think of a dramatic... Tragic maybe... but not many people think about the FEELINGS in other living creatures. You actually perfected it... I was panicing with those birds when I read this.
