Ode to Winnipeg
Slushy snow melts underfoot
while elsewhere it piles high.
The sky brightens ever so gently;
one shade at a time.
And there stands our Golden Boy
so high above us all.
With in one hand he grasps justice
and in the other, valor.
His eyes are great pillars of sight
from which he oversees our lives.
Yet he sees through us, into forever.
Into eternity and blessedly beyond.
Winnipeg is rich and poor, alive but dying
stubbornly drawing one more breath,
hot or cold. Mosquitoes and everything;
our city is humble in its honesty.
Beautiful but adverse to vanity,
we are Canada - those nice folks yonder.
Can you feel it?
Out spirited energy.

Can you feel it/spirited energy are the city's logo things/whatever. Written on the bus.

Re: Ode to Winnipeg
Having lived in 'peg for several years, this is awesome.
Question, which route did you write it on?
For those who don't live in Winterpeg, this is golden boy.

Re: Ode to Winnipeg
It was the 62 Richmond Express to Downtown/University of Manitoba. I had to kill some time so I rode the bus for three hours. I got off when the bus went out of service...
The snow here is about hip-high now. Though winter has just started and won't end till next year... then the mosquitoes.
