Thread: Reality is only second best

In our midst of deepest thoughts,
We go beyond what the mind perceives to be truth.
Dreams become our passageway
To escape the dreadful fate of reality.
Lies and deception take form of visages
That constantly reminds us we are entrapped by our own desires.
It slowly devours the our inner selves
Augmenting the throbbing pain of loneliness.
We can never accept who we really are
Despite the beauty within us all.
We allow temptation to fool us
And let society define our identity
Well, I am here to say,
I am me and that’s okay
Because I will be the one to rectify my self-judgment
