The shadow calls your broken memories
Haunting your mind
Unlocking the sealed door
Lingering in your psyche
Destroying your self-security
Though you continue to conceal
The self that you fear
The self that was once yours
Now vexes your dreams
Trying to smash your recollections
Scattering the pieces again
Hiding the you that pursuits your present
Killing all that is remnant
Erasing the remnants of what once was
Seeing your reflection erodes your happiness
For your fear was once yourself
But it’s shadow remains
Remains with you
Turning your back on things of yore
Shutting your eyes to look away
Hating all that was you
That now sits in your silhouette
Executing your history
To dim the shade you cast
Spreading the shards of your past
And Though the fragments will mend,
You still try to forget, ravage what is left
Desolate all that is remnant.
