    Revisiting my first poem on Anime Online

    I welcome you all to a moment in the past, as well as a moment in the present with the following poem. Someone dear to me talked about a movie she had once seen and asked if I had seen it. I replied to her yes, and that it was the first poem I had written on a forum long ago. I asked to her if she wanted to see what I had written back then. She said yes. I decided to watch the movie once again to have a feel of my thoughts back then before sending her my poem. I then noticed that my words needed to be reworked and transformed to honor the movie I had interpreted. I'll show my original commentary and poem followed by my rework that I just completed moments ago. Enjoy!

    Original introduction, poem and explanation (End of 2001):

    ==============
    ==============
    After a moment of silence, here starts the poems I've said I'd do or whatever my writings may be called.

    Tonight, I've finally seen a movie I've wanted to see for a very long time. It's not anime but it touched me deeply and made me think about love so you guessed it, I'm going to write about love for my first topic, what comes after depends on what happens next.
    -
    Thoughts of completion

    A love as foul as a hollow love,
    Thinking of survival and not of another.

    Thinking of joy in the arms of another,
    Letting go of all the pains of the past and seeing life once more.

    Young moralities discovering new things,
    Moving and learning with growing curiosity.

    Greed and wealth bringing destruction to all,
    Preferring shining gold to a beautiful civilisation.

    Fantasies that grow within everyone,
    Shown by others to help lost souls find new meanings to the word love...

    I wrote this just now thinking about what I've seen in the movie "Anna and the king". The first part made its way in because some people must love another to save others or simply please the people around them. The second part relates to people who finally let go of the past and go on with their lives at their fullest. the third part describes a child learning new things. The fourth is about people who want to dominate others and get richer instead of making a good relationship with others. The last part is what made me think the most. In the relationship between Ann and the king, I saw some kind of fantasy slowly growing between them and it made Anna accept her past and move on. When they danced for the second time, it really made me think.

    Update (end of 2010):

    I just noticed that the enemy in this story wasn't motivated by money and power, but by the refusal to evolve in a civilization more open to the world.
    The king's general entertained a thought of destruction, while legitimating it with his desire to protect his country against the invaders, whatever the nature they may take form. The general was blinded by his obsession to protect his people from the outside influence. In the end, I have to change the fourth part to well represent the movie in its due worth. Re-reading the first part, I also noticed that I ill-represented my perception of love between Anna and the king. Whatever may be their reasons to do as they did, particularly in their given situations. I present to you all now what should have been:

    Thoughts of completion

    A love hidden to save one whom we love,
    Thinking of what's best for what you believe in.

    Thinking of joy in the arms of another,
    Letting go of all the pains of the past and seeing life once more.

    Young moralities discovering new things,
    Moving and learning with growing curiosity.

    Blindness and obsession fooling the mind,
    Preferring immobility to a flourishing civilization.

    Fantasies that grow within everyone,
    Shown by others to help lost souls find new meanings to the word love...

    Because of the above, I offer you all these words to inspire anyone who goes on a trip that they may chose to embark upon. Be yourself, wherever you may go, whatever the customs that you will encounter or adhere to. Always be guided by your desire to express yourself how you see fit. You will love for who you are.
