Thread: Shores of Illusion

I stood at the edge of illusion's shore.
Despite being told to just ignore
The "useless" urge to just explore.
The raging seas, which hold much more...
...Than what anyone should go looking for.

"Please stay here upon the land,
Where lies are more than grains of sand.
We supply what you demand.
And you stay guided by our hand.
For across the sea, theres other men...
Don't fear us... be afraid of them!"

And, though the liars don't agree
I ventured out into the sea.
I found more than evil there...I found a reality.
My world has been created, visually.
In a place where I'm supposed to be...
Free?

They've manufactured all I see.
So, I'd believe society.
"It must not be happening
If I don't see it on TV."
But, the deeper I go out to sea.
The more I question... even me.

An ugliness stirred in those waves.
Wounded mothers, and murdered babes.
The heads of men. Humanity's slaves.
Naked children in their graves.
The starving, lonely, and depraved.
The dollar bills.
Dollar bills.
Because someone here is getting paid.

I got in too deep, I swam so strong
In the truth that proved the liars wrong.
Before I was a daughter, or a mom.
I was concieved, a brainwashed pawn.
Living the lies that had been spawned....
On the shore I stood, for far too long.

The ugliness in which I swam...
Showed me, indeed I was condemned.
Across the sea, were other men....
But this ugliness... it did not stem
From them.

Afterall they must defend
With greater force than what we send.
They borrow the trouble in which we lend.
This ugliness, we've made a trend.

On the shores of illusion.
