now is this a poem about pollution, or leaving your home?
I cannot decide, but I like the feel of it and would like to
read more of your work. ok
Yeah, I grew up in a town called Perth Amboy. There's a lot of history here but no one seems to know where it is. It's made fun of constantly by other towns. It came to the point where most of the people here hate it themselves. But deep down, they care for it. I attend the High School here and I'm going to enter this into a contest, I just want to know what you guys think. I'm not much of a poet so don't expect higher from me.
Perth Amboy, the forgotten city;
Behind a cloud of fog, that's gritty.
Crowded hallways imitate our streets;
Nike, the winged goddess, plastered on our feet.
Along the shore of the waterfront planks;
Which used to be as clear and the cleanest riverbanks.
Now it's overrun with dirt and grim;
Caused by our ignorance time after time.
Natives, like me and you;
Belittle the name of our city, harsh but ‘tis true.
Come winter, summer, spring, then fall;
We will leave our little village once and for all.
Remembering our town, school, family, and friends;
Being nostalgic from beginning to end.
But no matter the distance, no matter how far away;
We will never forget "The City By The Bay."

Leave me and my simple sig alone. I like it. ^o^

Your style is diffrent from others. Write more poems and soon you shall perfect your style.
I like the part about "Nike, the winged goddess"
Although Im more of a K-swiss, Reebok person myself.
Can you tell me more about your city, Im real curious.
... Not Ever Again...
Thanks. I never noticed I was different, it all seems alike to me.
Not many people understand the whole Nike thing, I'm glad someone knows about it, lol.
Uh, well, my city is awesome. First capital of Jersey. It has the second oldest historical cityhall still in use. The first African American voted right here. That's just a few I remember.
