"The Titanic Panic"

On April 10 the Titanic set sail,
If you just wait, I'll tell you the tale.

They used to call it the unsinkable ship,
Until a great iceberg gave it a rip.

The water flowed onto the compartments it did,
Most of the crew went and hid.

Most of the people on board the Titanic,
Did not yet know about the great panic.

Young Jack Thayer went up to the deck,
With all the people he strained his neck.

He looked over the bow and all he could see,
Was a great gash twice as big as he.

The Captain was awaken from his cabin below,
He was told the ship was sinking slow very slow.

The Captain was startled by the terrible news,
He also knew there was no time to lose.

The ship designer and the company founder,
Said that no matter what, Titanic will flounder.

He shouted and order while putting on his coat,
He said, "Begin, uncover the lifeboats!"

The Captain went down to the boiler room below,
Then a man jumped in front, "Please! Don't go!"

He pushed him aside and didn't like what he sees,
Water was rising above his knees.

By now everyone on board the Titanc,
Was now aware of the great panic.

The Captain said, "Do what have to, even lie.
Don't let these people know that they might die."

But a stupid man apperently drunk,
Let the whole ship know, it soon would be sunk.

They called the people first class first,
The said, "Hurry along now before things get worse."

A man jumped out from the crowd and said,
"Fill them fuller before we'er all dead!"

Most of the lifeboats were gone by this time,
People were pleading, "I'll give you dime!"

A woman stepped out from the crowd with a sass,
"Will we be loaded according to class?"

Now all the lifeboats were gone,
But most of the people were still holding on.

One of the funnels fell like a steeple,
Killing a whole lot of people.

The people heard a crack then clank,
The ship was breaking in half, plank, by plank.

People were jumping in the freezing cold water,
Men, women, mothers and daughters.

When the rescue boats came it was too late,
When they took so long it sealed their fate.

Out of all the people on board the Titanic,
705 on the Carpathia were in a state of panic.

That was the story about the great ship,
That struck an iceberg and sunk in a zip.
